This striking 1970s fantasy illustration was commissioned for the cover of Andre Norton's science fiction novel, Star Born - a widely recognised, culturally relevant piece of literature that alongside its cover illustration, has embedded itself in the canon of sci fi pop culture.
Acquired by George Lucas, it is now part of the collection of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art and will be on display alongside other great masterpieces that showcase the history and importance of visual storytelling. As Lucas himself commented, the museum celebrates illustration art as a medium of expression and its significance to the telling of a story. To be included in this stunning collection alongside other illustrators' whose works have shaped how generations have imagined, visualised and interacted with fantasy and science fiction stories is a true testament to Gino's prestige as an illustrator and his enduring artistic legacy.
